The Garter Snake is a non-venomous snake that lives in the Eastern Great Lakes Region of the United States and Canada. The Garter Snake is a frequently observed snake. The Massassauga Rattle snake is less common and occasionally seen on the Pre-Cambrian rocks around the French and Pickerel Rivers of Ontario. The Massassauga Rattle Snake is venomous but Protected! They are not aggressive and would rather hide than bite. The rattle makes a buzzing sound almost like that of a bee. Their prey is mice and and other small rodents. Consider yourself honoured if you see one as they are shy and rarely seen.
